A social worker who acts a Local Government
Link for the beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)
admitted that she is the one referred to in NewsRecord's banner story April 6
to 13, 2012 edition.
Juliet
Abante told NRWP in a requested interview that she is the one referred to by
one source as "Ma'am Juliet."
Abante
however denied the accusations of the source, who is only named
"Maria," that she collected P 10 from beneficiaries in Barangay Palampas for the snacks of social workers and
Land Bank of the Philippines-San Carlos Branch employees. "Dili gyud
ko mo-admit. Sila [beneficiaries] na na ang ga-amot. Wala koy labot.
Ilaha nang dynamics," she said.
She
explained that in the case of Sitio Tunga, Barangay Palampas the parent-leader
Jenalyn Ocal, 33, has to spend roughly P 80 to attend the monthly meetings held
at the Palampas Barangay Center in Sitio Pamahauan. Beneficiaries under Ocal's
leadership would voluntarily contribute for her fare.
Ocal also
defended the social worker and said, "Pila na sya diri [sa Palampas] ka
bulan. Wala gyud ni sya nangayo'g amot." She however admitted that
sometimes she and fellow beneficiaries would share their farm's products to
Abante and the latter would sometimes refuse.
Meanwhile,
the 4Ps Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Office is now
validating the accusations cited in NRWP's story.
