kandidato ug botante. Iya-iya lang kini sila ug diskarte kon unsaon nila
pagluto ang ilang bola-bola.

Homily from Monte Agudo
Rev. Fr. Rafael Cabarles, OAR
Excerpt of the homily delivered during the 25th Sacerdotal Anniversary
of Rev. Fr. Jorge Peligro, OAR
We are gathered in this memorable afternoon for the
simple rason that Fr. Jorge is inviting us all to join with him in thanking the
Good Lord who called him and sustained him as a
Recollect Priest for the last 25 exciting years. He was ordained priest on
October 3, 1987.
Why thank the Lord? Not because Fr. Jorge is good, but because
God is so good. Not because Fr. Jorge is faithful but because God has faith in
him; not because Fr. Jorge is successful but because every time that he falls,
God picks him up.
God has no reason at all to answer our prayers simply because
of our past service records. Weekdays Preface No. IV of the Mass says:
"You have no need of our praise, yet our desire to thank you is itself
your gift. Our prayer of thanksgiving adds nothing to your greatness, but makes
us grow in your grace."

Ang politika karon sa San Carlos ang nahimong
topiko sa bisan asa na lang nga suok. Bisan mga driver sa pedicab maghisgot na
ug politika.
Nahimong interesado ang publiko tungod nga ang kasamtangan nga

Election time
Election time is approaching and nominations have
now closed. As usual, the various loose and ever changing alliances called
political parties have seen switchers and old allies become competitors.
In most countries, political parties are based on a set of
principles or long-range policies. These may be vague at times as every side
pitches for the center ground where the swing voters are to be found.

SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT OFFICE

News Record
San Carlos City
Dear Ms. Quilaton:
This is relative to the previous News Record issue dated September 16-22, 2012 regarding the condition of the city's garbage trucks.
Over the years, the city's generated garbage has increased significantly, from 15 tonnes per day in 2007 to 17 tonnes per day in 2012. In 2011, San Carlos City produced 6,205 tonnes of solid waste equivalent to 16,000 cu. m. per year, which is enough to fill two (2) football fields to the height of an average person. And this volume would be significantly increasing in the next succeeding years.
In order to address the garbage problem, the city has created various programs relative to solid waste. The city has established the first Sanitary Landfill in the region and the first to technically close the old dumpsite, conducted Information, Education and Communications Campaign for waste segregation since 2002, dispatching street sweepers to strategic areas every day, and setting up an effective waste collection scheme.
Relative to the issue, the City Government of San Carlos is trying its best to improve the efficiency of our garbage collection. Although the undersigned has made mention about the government's procurement process due to the following factors: Agency Rules and Regulations, Inter-Bureaucratic Transactions, Limited Suppliers, etc., the City's Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) has been consistently assisting our office in finding it's best and appropriate means in purchasing the needed spare parts of the breakdown garbage trucks.
To date, four (4) garbage trucks are now functioning and one additionally will be operational by next week while one unit compactor that had undergone major repair is hopefully to be available soon.
The daily waste collection schedule (except for 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month) is from 5:30 AM to 1:30PM on the first shift and from 2:30PM to 10:30PM on the next shift. There are seven (7) collection routes within the city proper with only one (1) truck assigned per route and a Multicab for special collection which [caters] the hospitals, slaughterhouse, etc., while the collection for upland and coastal (Brgys. Ermita and San Juan) barangays are set via scheduling.
For your information.
Thank you

Religion: for better or for worse?
Most of us are dismayed by the violent reaction of
some Muslim groups to reports of a film unflattering to Mohammad and then to a
French magazine cartoon also considered disrespectful. I say to "reports
of" as majority will not have seen the film or the cartoon, just as some
years ago, violent reaction to a book called Satanic
Verses by Salman Rushdie was based only on
hearsay. It is understandable that people may be offended by such caricature,
but the extreme reactions are not.
