Firearms found
in CNC compound
Three firearms were confiscated within the Central Negros
College Compound during the Friday the 13th raid of the Negros Occidental
Provincial Police Office (NOPPO).
P/Supt. Jefferson T. Descallar, operations chief, led the team
from NOPPO with several elements from the San Carlos City Police Office
(SCCPO).
One .45 caliber pistol without license was confiscated from
Benjamin Perigua, husband of CNC College Dean Isabelita Perigua. With the
firearm are eight live ammunitions and a magazine.
One 12 gauge shot gun was also taken from Security Guard Ramil
Desoyo of Negros Veterans' Security Agency. The said firearm was found to have
a defaced serial number. Another guard, Rolly Heno of Ravenous Security Agency,
was found with a .9 mm pistol with five live ammunitions.
Confiscated arms and ammunitions were in the custody of
Descallar but it was found that those owned by the guards have license.
Perigua claimed to be a member of a military intelligence group
and showed the raiding team his ID of the said organization. But the police
persisted because the pistol did not have a license.
The raid was permitted under a search warrant issued by Judge
Epifanio Libutan, Jr., Regional Trial Court Branch 50, Bacolod City.
Barangay VI Kagawad Catherine B. Mercado and newsman Henry
Sandoval witnessed the raid at 5:30 in the morning, July 13.
NOPPO refuses to disclose the informant who tipped them about
the firearms in the school compound.
