Kayezelle Marie E. Durano, 17, a sophomore information
technology student and the SK Chairperson of Barangay III took her oath and
officially started her term as SK President after Lady Lehi Lambayong was urged
to resign.
Lambayong’s episode
Durano told NRWP that she initially didn't want to comment on
Lambayong's resignation but she explained that it was the consensus stand of
the city's SK chairpersons that the defunct youth leader was not performing her
duties.
Apparently, the new president claimed, it was not Lambayong’s
enrollment at University of St. La Salle, Bacolod City that caused her
resignation.
Durano added that Lambayong was given a choice that either she
steps down or the chairpersons sign a petition against her.
The quorum
Meanwhile, the new SK president said that her first priority is
to achieve quorums during the monthly meeting of SK chairpersons.
"We never have a quorum during session."
Asked about her present enrollment status at the University of
Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City, Durano explained that when she was
asked to take Lambayong's post, she had already registered in the said
university and had paid in advance the rent of her apartment.
She added that while she had to drop some of her classes to
accommodate the weekly sessions, she will transfer to a local college next
semester so that it will be easier for her to perform her duties.
She also added that she hopes to improve the rooster of
activities for the youth.
Barangay III Captain George Desampador with the kagawads and
Marissa Costello, City Local Government Operations Officer were also in
attendance.
