Bullets Ricochet:
When karma strikes
By Hernor M. De Asis
“When it bounces back, it’s called KARMA.” Some malicious raving lunatics are eager to shoot people behind their backs. They use their machine gun-mouths to aim at their targets, and unfortunately stories are crafted, these become a castle in the sky instead of a stronghold in the plain.
Exchanging conversations is a traditional past time of every Filipino, since it is a conventional activity it is also adopted in Government Office. Well, it’s one way of socializing and building good camaraderie, but when it becomes a habit and office tasks are set aside, then we should raise the flag for warning.
Have you ever been to a public or private office? I had an experience before about these workers who use their working hours for leisure and it inspires me to write this poetry:
Worker’s Karma
You came to the bureau at past eight;
Hoping that you were not late!
Drying your wet hair and
putting on make-up,
A sign that you just woke up!
Logging in to the records at eight: ten,
Erasing ten that leads to a sin!
It seems you fool Chronos, God of time!
Beware He punishes mortals for such crime.
Plenty of paper works are waiting,
But you end up to your mate, chatting!
Wow, “Miss Pretty little late!”
At nine you’re having a date?!
At ten, you simply touch the pages,
Putting a li’l effort for such wages.
Now, it’s twelve, time to fly!
You’re half-day done for such a lie.
You arrive at one:forty.
Trying to cat walk in the lobby!
But here comes payback time,
Since your boss notices the crime!
Saying goodbye to your position,
Is the result of your wrongful action.
Well, karma is just like lighting,
You surely won’t hear it coming!
Filipinos have this mentality of ruining other people’s reputation through diffusing the smoke of unraveled truth. We can beat Shakespeare’s literary pieces with our talent in crafting stories, we are good novelists and writers and we tend to act those stories for real aiming to be awarded as the “Best Actor/Actress in a Most Pretending Role”.
Unfortunately, we can see these Satan’s offspring in most offices in the Philippines. In order to gain higher ranks in the working field, they tend to get close to their gullible bosses and feed them with worthless gossips, but there are some masters who are good in sorting out black from white. However, these old hags in disguise as lovely maidens tend to lure their managers to do their bidding.
No dark forces ever win in a battle over the good ones. Time will come that the die will be casted, and the verdict is a ten-fold punishment of your wicked actions.
We should believe in Karma, as it’s the most powerful guardian and protector of those who are mistreated and abused.
“So mind your bullet, sometimes it ricochets”.
