COMELEC sets COC filing
on Oct 1-5
Commission of Elections (COMELEC) finalized the
schedule for the Filing of Certificate of Candidacy on October 1 to 5, 2012.
Based on COMELEC Resolution No. 2518 Sec. 5 published on
September 12, "The Certificate of Candidacy shall be filed on any day from
October 1, 2012 to October 5, 2012 during office hours."
The filing of COCs is for the May 13, 2013 elections that will
also be automated and shall also include elections for the Autonomous Region of
Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Candidates for senator to municipal/city councilors are
expected to flock COMELEC offices.
The resolution also specifies that if at 4:45 PM on October 5,
"there are still persons intending to file" their COC, the Receiving
Officer shall prepare a complete list containing their names with consecutive
numbers and time of listing. The names shall be called but if the person is
absent, he or she shall no longer be allowed to file a COC.
Meanwhile, COMELEC has also set October 31 as the last day of
registration for both local voters and Overseas Filipino Workers.
