kills student

A blue and white Mitsubishi jeepney fell into a ditch and flipped over on its way to school on June 13. The PUV with plate no. FVJ-909 had 10 teachers and around 14 students on board when its brake malfunctioned at Sitio Walos, Barangay Bagonbon.
Jeffrey Paz, 15, a high school student of Bagonbon National High School was declared dead on arrival at San Carlos Doctor's Hospital while 24 other passengers including the driver, Michael Baraquia, were injured.
Blue vs. White. Two players from Guam-extreme right and center- against Phil Younghusband. The Philippine Football Team, better known as the Azkals, won 3-0 over Guam during the Independence Day match at the Panaad Stadium, Bacolod City, June 12. Ledesmas file for TRO

"All lies! Very far from the truth!"
Socorro Broce-Ledesma, administrative officer of Central Negros College said that the accusations of her siblings Liza and Margarito Broce and the officers of the CNC College Supreme Student Government (CSSG) are all lies.
Going to court
Mario Ledesma, CNC school director and Socorro's husband, said he, his wife, and sister-in-law Assuncion Broce are filing a temporary restraining order against the two aforementioned siblings who took over the school management on June 5.
"When they held that rally we were in Cebu. Since we still believe in the justice system, we went to court to file the TRO," Ledesma, the subject of the students' "Oust Ledesma" placard, said.
Mrs. Ledesma added that aside from the TRO, they also filed a robbery case since her siblings and Margarito's son  ransacked the cashier's office and took P 170,000 from the safe. Student-leaders and the College Dean Isabelita Perigua will be among the accused because they connived for the take-over, she added.

Students = Stakeholders

The press in the Philippines is generally adversarial. I told my campus journalism class during our first meeting for the semester.
Further, I went on to discuss that, ironically, what now opposes this journalism principle was also conceived in our country. Development communication is the press orientation that our economically strong Asian neighbors use. They borrowed it from us. Their leaders believe that a press that promotes development and encourages people to participate in and contribute to it becomes a nation's indispensable tool for the climb to progress. I agree.

Does Rizal deserve
to be our nat’l hero?

We had this history teacher in high school who argued that Gat Andres Bonifacio more deserves to be declared as the national hero instead of Dr. Jose Rizal.  He contended that Rizal was made as the national hero upon the machinations of our American colonizers.  It was a strategic move on their part to influence the Filipinos to emulate a man of peace like Rizal rather than adore the revolutionary like Bonifacio.  Otherwise, its colonies would always have the tendency to resort to violent means in their quest for reforms.
