GIP halts in San Carlos 

No explanations, gov’t interns ordered 

to ‘stop working’

Expanded Government Internship Program (GIP) in San Carlos suddenly stops after interns submitted a daily time record that covers in advance working days until August 8, the last day of the 52-day program.

The GIP "provides youth, including those who are out-of-school, opportunities to take part in nation-building through exposure to government service, train them on skills, and contribution to their economic well-being," a report from the Philippine Information Agency states. It aims to employ youth from 18 to 30 years old, especially students so they can earn their enrollment fees and needs. It was designed for a complete 52-day work.

700 apply for passport, jobs in auditorium

About 700 flocked to the City Auditorium to get passports and apply for local and international jobs during the Mobile Passporting and Job Fair 2012, July 14.

Indeed, it is a worldwide problem affecting the Philippines and Australia. This 20-tentacled, spike laden creature called crown of thorn starfish (COT) or salanay is wrecking havoc in the world's most precious coral reefs including the recently revived ones within San Carlos City waters.

Strange but it works!

A policy debate currently raging in the UK may have some interest in the Philippines.The issue is proposed reform of the House of Lords (HoL), the upper house in the British Parliament equivalent to the Senate in the USA and the Philippines.

The case for reform is unanswerable in a democracy. At present, the HoL is comprised of some people with an inherited title (Lords, Dukes, Earls, etc, some of whom were granted a title by supporting the King 3 or 400 years ago) and so called Life Peers who are political appointments of people with expertise, or co-operative elderly politicians retiring from the Lower House, the House of Commons.(HoC). There are also a number of Bishops of the Church of England, but of no other faith or denomination.

The insurgency phenomenon

Most senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) today has indicated preference in taking further studies fields aside from those which are directly related to their martial profession.  This was the finding of an unidentified author of an article published for the magazine of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in July 1, this year.  The author went on by tacitly criticizing the organization which he alleged has already neglected the study of military strategy and history in favor of other subjects.

The highest training program for the officers of the AFP is the Command and General Staff Course (CGSC).  This course prepares senior officers for 'generalship.'  However, through the years, the organization realized that this course is wanting and do not fully equip our generals with the capacity to cope with and solve our peculiar type of insurgency.  Moreover, this program, being just a copy of foreign CGSC courses, is designed for conventional types of warfare.  Addressing our internal insurgency as we all know is not a conventional one.

Sa pagka karon wala pay balita murag mingaw man, tingali nahadlok sa controlled votes o kaha tungod sa 'tikas' machine mao kini ang ingon nila. Kon wala man gayuy mosulay, ang eleksyon mingaw pa sa Tirana.
