Gov’t interns get paid, finally

Stipend for government interns was finally distributed on September 27 at the San Carlos City Hall Lobby.

Although they did not receive the amount promised to them upon applying for the Expanded Government Internship program, an intern eagerly signs her check at the table set by the City Social Welfare and Development Office. Eduardo Guevarra, from DSWD Region VI was also present to supervise the distribution.

This is according to Julio Ledesma National High School Principal Glenda Arañez.

Arañez told NRWP during an interview that upon investigation, the person who sent a letter of complaint to Cynthia Demavivas, Schools Division Superintendent, Department of Education-San Carlos Division, with a copy furnished to NewsRecord, used an alias and that his claims are false.

Better late than never.

Honesty in advertising

I have written about honesty (or rather the lack of it) in advertising before. I was therefore pleased to see that the domestic airlines are now claiming to post "all in" fares instead of the previous misleading figures. However, closer scrutiny shows there are no such things.

The addition of unspecified fuel supplements can double the cost of some of the so-called "all in" fares. This is especially so for regional flights.
